Our Partnership with Parents
At Little Steps, we believe that strong partnerships with parents are key to a child’s success and wellbeing. We actively encourage parents to be involved in every step of their child’s nursery journey.
Before a child starts with us, we invite families to attend an ‘All About Me’ meeting. This allows us to gain a well-rounded understanding of your child’s personality, routines, and any individual needs—helping us provide the best possible start.
Daily Communication
Parents have access to our dedicated Parent App, where practitioners upload daily updates on your child’s meals, toileting, naps, and activities. This ensures you’re always in the loop with your child’s day and development.
The app also allows you to share your own observations and photos from home, helping us build a consistent picture of your child’s progress across nursery and home life.
Working Together
Throughout the year, we encourage families to take part in home learning tasks linked to our nursery themes, celebrations, and activities. These are fun, optional ways to extend learning beyond the setting and involve the whole family.
We also host termly parents’ evenings, giving you the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with their key worker. Together, we’ll explore how your child is developing, what milestones they’re reaching, and how we can work in partnership to support any next steps or close any learning gaps.
In addition, our ‘Stay and Play’ sessions invite parents into the setting to spend time with their child, explore the learning environment, and experience a typical day at nursery.
Keeping Your Little Ones Safe
Safety and security are a top priority at Little Steps.
- All our staff are DBS checked and registered on the Update Service for ongoing safeguarding assurance.
- We have CCTV cameras installed in all rooms, corridors, and outdoor areas to help ensure the safety of children, staff, and visitors. Footage can be reviewed by the Nursery Manager at any time.
- Access to the building is strictly controlled via a secure front door and intercom system, which is answered by a member of staff.
You can rest assured that your child is in a secure, caring environment where their wellbeing always comes first.
Parent Zone
Parent zone is a smartphone app which gives you access to information about your child’s time with us at nursery.
You will have access to a timeline of daily events and observations and assessments (including photos and videos). You can add observations from home, request to update your contact details and communicate with us through direct messages.
You will receive an email from us to register your email address to invite you to access ‘ParentZone’.
Please make sure we have an up-to-date email address for you. Emails to register ‘ParentZone’ will automatically be sent to Mum and Dad. If you would like any other carers/family members to access ‘ParentZone’ please notify us
You can download the app for ‘ParentZone’ on both android and iOS (apple) devices. Just head over to the respective app store and search for ‘ParentZone’.
Once downloaded, open your app and enter your email address and new secure password. If you do not have a device to download the app to, you can access ‘ParentZone’ online by visiting www.parentzone.me
